UWB

2. What might you do with access to UWB radio transmissions if you had a receiver in a car?

If I had a UWB radio transmission in my car, it would make driving easier and more enjoyable. You could use your gps, charge your phone, play music, and watch a movie in HD all at the same time without any wires. Wires get in the way and can be a hassle for some.

Zeran

1.     What might you have done differently if you were in the position of artist Ken Zeran, mentioned in this chapter?

From what I read about Ken Zeran and the AOL t-shirt hoax, he did the right thing. He called AOL to get them to take down the bulletin about him selling t-shirts. He contacted the radio station that had people call him and explained. I felt although that was the right thing to do but he could have done something simpler like just change his number. That could have settled everything and he wouldn’t have had to waste money attempting to sue people and receive death threatening calls. The chapter says he depended on that number, but he could have sent his new number to the people he was associated with and explain why he had to change his number. That is what I would have done instead of letting the situation escalate into what it did.

drm

What’s the value of a bit? It seems that going after folks who have traded songs or movies online is a huge expenditure of effort and money. Is DRM-protected content the way to go? If you don’t agree, propose another method for the distribution of digital multimedia so that content creators can still be compensated.
Everyone downloads illegal music or movies even though they may not know it. I feel DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected content is a bad way to protect from illegal downloads. It has so many restrictions and is difficult for consumers to download legal music and movies. A way for content creators to be compensated for downloads and for people to stop downloading illegally, they can let consumers pay a one-time fixed rate for unlimited downloads. More accessibility to share and copy music for those in colleges would also be a great option.
